This video from Korean New Network (KNN) brings back a lot of memories from the early days of our farm and brewery/distillery.
It highlights a really special moment in our journey, when our family farm received a USDA Value-Added Producer Grant to support our makgeolli and deodeok (더덕) whiskey projects.
Since 2012, Rosalyn Kim, has been running nearly every part of the business, from paperwork and licensing to distribution and deliveries. She’s kept the farm going day in and day out, making sure our product stays fresh, small-batch, and true to its roots.
Meanwhile, my dad has quietly focused on perfecting the recipe. He’s constantly refining the brewing process; experimenting, testing, and adjusting until every bottle reflects the tradition he grew up with.
This grant from the USDA is a huge milestone. It recognizes the value of what we’ve been building all these years and gives us the opportunity to grow without compromising the quality or integrity of our work.
It’s amazing to look back now and see how far things have come and how much went behind it from the very beginning!
